😏OK..NOW WHAT? (your Q & A)
Why dogs dislike some people & like others?

Excuse me, I don’t play ball with just anyone you know🤨

When it comes to why your dog likes some people & not others, the answer is more complex than you might think.🤔

Dogs rely on their incredible sense of smell, which is far superior to ours, to pick up on various scents that can indicate a person's emotions or past experiences.

This means that a dog’s reaction to someone is often based on what they can smell & the associations they’ve formed around certain scents.

  • Sense of Smell: Dogs have around 220 million scent receptors, making their sense of smell 10,000 to 100,000 times better than ours. This allows them to detect odors & pick up on things we can’t even notice.

  • Emotional Detection: Dogs can smell changes in human emotions through sweat & body odor. They can sense fear or anxiety, which might make them wary of certain individuals.

  • Facial Expressions & Gestures: Dogs are also able to read human facial expressions & body language. They can pick up on subtle changes in our gestures that indicate our feelings, helping them understand whether someone is friendly or threatening.

  • Past Associations: Dogs form associations based on their experiences. If a dog had a negative encounter with someone who has a similar scent to another person, they might react negatively without any clear reason.

Our pups instincts & abilities to read us make each of their preferences unique & intriguing.

By appreciating these factors, we gain extra insight into how our dogs perceive the world & why they may favor certain people over others.

🧠🌿WOOF WELLBEING
Why do dogs really have wet noses?

That cute healthy snoot, deserves a boop❤

It’s a common question, & the answer is rooted in our pups biology & behavior. A wet nose is not just a cute feature; it serves important functions that help them interact with the world around them.

Let’s sniff into why those noses are so damp & what it means for our pooches.

  • Enhanced Sense of Smell: A wet nose helps to capture scent particles in the air, enhancing a dog’s incredible sense of smell.

The moisture on their nose allows them to better absorb odors, making them more effective at detecting scents.

  • Regulating Body Temperature: Dogs also use their noses to help regulate their body temperature. When they breathe in, the moisture on their nose evaporates & cools them down, much like how sweating works for us humans.

  • Health Indicator: A wet nose can be a sign of good health. Generally, a healthy dog will have a moist nose, while a dry nose could indicate dehydration or illness, although this isn’t always the case.

Despite these facts, there are some common myths about dog noses.

One popular belief is that a warm or dry nose means a dog is sick, but this isn't always true. Dogs can have varying nose temperatures throughout the day based on their activity level & environment.

Another myth suggests that all dogs’ noses should always be wet; however, some breeds naturally have drier noses than others.

Dog noses are not only adorable (& can get into everything🙄) but also play crucial roles in how dogs experience the world & stay healthy.👃🏽

Who says you’re small!…not me🤔

What’s small dog syndrome & how to prevent it.

Have you ever heard of small dog syndrome? It’s a term used to describe certain behaviors that some small dogs exhibit, often due to a lack of proper training & socialization.

While these little pups can be adorable & full of personality, without the right guidance, they may develop habits that are less than desirable. Let’s look into what small dog syndrome is & how you can help prevent it.

  • Behavioral Issues: Small dog syndrome can lead to behaviors like excessive barking, aggression, or clinginess. These issues often stem from a lack of boundaries & training, which can make small dogs feel insecure.

  • Overprotection: Dog parents sometimes unintentionally reinforce this syndrome by treating their small dogs like fragile babies. This over-protection can result in anxiety & fearfulness, causing them to react negatively in unfamiliar situations.

  • Socialization is Key: Early socialization is crucial for small dogs. Exposing them to various people, environments, & other animals helps build their confidence & teaches them how to behave appropriately.

To prevent & fix small dog syndrome, it’s important to establish rules & boundaries. Training your small dog with positive reinforcement will help them understand what behaviors are acceptable.

Additionally, regular socialization with other pets & people will give them the confidence they need to thrive in different situations.

By taking these steps, you can help your little pal to be a well-adjusted & happy pup.❤
