😏OK..NOW WHAT? (your Q & A)
What surprising things are dogs scared of?

🌟Our dogs, our all mighty protecting champs!…OK, they can be afraid of some pretty weird things, but shhh we’ll keep that to ourselves...

Pooches can have odd fears just like us (not that we’ll admit it😎).

It’s important to know that for the most part, that’s OK as long as they don’t get stressed or anxious.

Here are 10 surprising things that might send your pup running for cover:

  • Vacuum Cleaners: The ‘evil death snake’. The loud sounds & movements can freak them out.

  • Planes: Whether it’s helicopters or hot air balloons, strange noises from the sky can leave our pups puzzled & scared.

  • Water: Not every dog loves to swim. Some might be unsure around water, whether it’s a pool or a simple bath.

  • Balls: Surprisingly, not all dogs are fans of their favorite toys. Some can be startled by the noise of a bouncing ball.

  • Shadows: Yes, not just other shadows, they can get scared by their own not knowing what is causing them.

  • Umbrellas: An umbrella popping can send a pooch running for cover & the sudden opening can make them feel threatened.

  • Bicycles: For some pups the sight of a bike can send them running, speed & size being a factor.

  • Balloons: Who needs a clown, balloons are scary, & a pop worse.

  • Statues: Dogs don’t like the stone-cold stare, fearing objects resembling people or animals.

  • Hats: Yes hats. Some pups get frightened when their pawrents wear hats as they may not recognize them & see them as a threat

OK, it’s your turn. Let us know about your pooch in the dog parent poll below & if you like, please tell us about your pup’s surprising fear or you can ask a question🙂.

If you need to start modifying behavior, you can:

  • Identify the objects your dog is afraid of, & start introducing them to those objects step by step. Showing it to them a little bit at a time or at greater distance.

  • Once they are showing less concern, gradually increase the exposure always positive reinforcing your pup if they stay relaxed.

With repetition, your pooch will learn that the object isn’t a threat.

From gradual desensitization to seeking professional help with patience & care, we can ensure our pups lead happier, more confident lives.🥰

🧠🌿WOOF WELLBEING
Why do dogs sleep so much.

Pooches..Masters of sleeping anywhere😀

🌟 Are you thinking pooches sleep a lot? You’re right.

It turns out that dogs sleep anywhere from 12 to 18 hours a day, & there are many reasons behind this.

Factors like age, breed, size, & health all play a role in how much shut-eye your pooch gets.

Older dogs & puppies tend to require more sleep, with some sleeping up to 20 hours daily.

Plus, certain breeds are known for their laid-back lifestyles, making them expert nappers! Here’s a list of the top breeds that love to sleep:

  • Bulldog

  • Shih Tzu

  • Mastiff

  • Bassett Hound

  • French Bulldog

  • Pekingese

  • Greyhound

  • Lhasa Apso

  • Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

  • Saint Bernard

  • Chow Chow

  • Great Dane

  • Cocker Spaniel

  • Pug

  • Great Pyrenees

But it's not just about breed & age; a dog’s environment & activity levels can also impact their sleep.

Stressful experiences may disrupt their sleep patterns, leading to changes in how much they nap.

If you notice your normally active pup suddenly spending too much time asleep or showing any unusual behavior, it might be a good idea to consult your vet.

After all, keeping a healthy sleep cycle is vital for our pooches overall well-being.

Like us sleep is essential for them to recharge & process information. Whether they're dreaming of chasing squirrels or simply resting up for their next big adventure, every hour of sleep helps keep them happy & healthy.

Keep an eye on your pup’s habits, & don't hesitate to reach out if anything seems off. Happy snoozing!

🧐FAT or FLUFF??...Answer.  FLUFF
Sticking out your hand out can be seen as a sign of aggression, & a dog may bite you. So calmly wait for the dog to approach you, if it wants to. If you must approach, do it from the side & avoid making intense eye contact.
