You probably don’t need it, but to add to your doggo insight, here are 7 cool clues that show your pup really cares about you:

• Happy Hellos. When your pooch gets super excited & wags their tail like crazy when you come home, it means they love seeing you!

• Special Gifts. If your dog brings you their favorite toy, it's like giving you a present because they love you. (or they are demanding some play time😏)

• Food Fun. When your dog waits for you before eating or likes being around you during meals, it means they enjoy your company.

• Cuddles Count. If your pup snuggles up to you or sleeps near you, it's because they feel safe & love being close to you.

• Sweet Stares. When your pooch looks at you with relaxed eyes, it's a sign of love & connection.

• Forever Friends. Dogs love us no matter what we look like, or if we are a bit on the nose, or how we feel, showing us love all the time.

• Sidekick Security. If your dog follows you everywhere & wants to be by your side, it means they really love & trust you.

What’s with that extra claw, the dewclaw?

🌟Let’s look into that extra paw passenger. Let's talk dewclaws!

Dewclaws are those short claws on the side of your dog's foot that don't touch the ground.

Most pups have them on their front paws, but some breeds like Great Pyrenees & Briards can also have them on their rear paws.

Interestingly, dewclaws are remnants of an ancient past when dogs ancestors were tree climbing creatures. Over time, as dogs evolved into swift runners, dewclaws lost most of their functionality but remain as a reminder of their history.

What’s a dewclaw for? If the dewclaw is attached to the bone, when dogs run, their front feet often bend to the point where their dewclaws contact the ground. dew claws help dogs stabilize at high speed or on difficult surfaces.

They can also use them to help climb or hold objects.

Should dewclaws be removed? No, unless there is a very good reason such as bad injury or disease.

So if a dewclaw is injured? Dewclaw injuries are relatively rare. but they do happen sometimes. Because most nail injuries are extremely painful & prone to infection (think feet here), it’s usually best to see your vet for specialist treatment.

How to care for dewclaws. Dewclaws are no different from your dog’s other nails.

Active pooches may wear down their nails without the need for trims. For most pups regular nail trims are needed, sometimes more for a dewclaw as it doesn’t touch the ground.

So there you have it, the dewclaw. Next time you look at your pup's paws, remember that those little dewclaws are a valuable piece of their ancient past.

🌍DIY doggy fresh breath mint cookies👅

Homemade doggy fresh breath mint cookies are a really good thing!

Pups love these yummy treats & we love the fresh breath.🙂 

This recipe uses simple ingredients &, unlike some bought treats, you know exactly what’s inside.

Ingredients:

• 2 1/2 cups old-fashioned oats

• 1/2 cup parsley fresh, finely chopped

• 1/2 cup mint fresh, finely chopped

• 1 egg large

• 1/4 cup water plus 1 tablespoon to help form the dough

• 3 tablespoons coconut oil melted (unrefined extra virgin is best)

Instructions:

• Preheat the oven to 325° F (160C).

• Grind oats in a blender until they reach a flour-like consistency.

• Combine finely diced parsley & mint, egg, water, & oil in a large bowl.

• Mix in oat flour & stir until well combined.

• Knead the dough a few times & then transfer it onto a lightly floured surface.

• Flatten the dough to about 1/8" (1/3cm) thickness using your hands or a rolling pin so they are nice & thin.

• Cut out approximately 40 cookies using a cookie cutter or knife.

• Place the cookies about 1/4-inch (1/2cm) apart on a parchment-lined or non-stick cookie sheet.

• Bake for 35-40 minutes until the cookies are golden & crispy.

• Allow the cookies to cool completely before serving.

• Store the cookies in an airtight container to keep them fresh.

Note: Do not overfeed your dog with raw mint it may upset their digestive system. Go with occasionally rather than regularly.
