OH MY DOG
Meet Henry the blood giving canine lifesaver!

Henry the life saving blood donor, a very very good boy🥰.

🐾 Henry is not your average dog but a true superhero! Rescued at 12 weeks, this flat-coated retriever has donated blood for six years, aiding pups through health challenges.

Like humans, animals sometimes need a blood boost, and that's where animal blood banks, like Henry's, come into play. The blood products have saved dogs from poisonings, cancer battles, and more, creating a heartwarming legacy in dog-to-dog blood donations.

Claire Sharp, heading the blood bank at Murdoch University's Animal Hospital in Perth, Australia, revealed there has been a shift to exclusively using community-owned dogs & cats for blood donation. With 70 dog and 40 cat donors, this approach ensures a steady supply, & a combination of sponsors, goodie bags, & annual health check-ups provide thanks to our four-legged heroes.

This simple and generous act can save lives where every donation counts. Henry's is an inspiring story, the longest-running donor soon to retire from his blood donation duties.

We join everyone in saying, Henry you are a champ!🙏🏽💗

Henry, getting in the retirement mood with a job sooo well done!💗

“People will know how large your soul is, by the way you treat a dog.”

OK..NOW WHAT?
How do I get my overexcited pooch to chill out!?

Happiness is a chill dog..or being a chill dog😁

🐾 Taming the Excitement Storm to find your Dog's Zen place! Is your fur buddy a bundle of never-ending energy? Dogs, like us, can get stressed & anxious, turning that joyous excitement into potential chaos.

To help your pooch chill, be patient, create a serene environment, & distract them with calming cues. From massages to a calm voice, these tips can turn the energy dial down & make relaxation a daily doggy ritual.

There’s Science Behind the Frenzy. Ever wondered why your dog goes bonkers at the sound of a leash or the promise of a walk? It's all in the brain's seeking circuit, releasing pleasure chemicals like dopamine. From the thrill of the hunt to sports training excitement, your dog's anticipation can sometimes spiral out of control.

Understand that arousal, triggered by alarm or sheer eagerness, can become addictive, leading to barking, lunging, & even aggressive behavior.

🌈 Mastering the Art of Canine Calm. Transforming your overexcited dog into a Zen master takes practice & patience. Train them with calming cues, engage their nose for focus, & interrupt playtime to avoid overstimulation.

Stay calm during greetings & mix up routines to teach your dog that not every walk or mealtime equals a burst of excitement. From relaxation techniques to reinforcing good behavior with treats, these actions can be effective in soothing your pup's nerves.

There are various products like lick mats, slow feeders & pheromone products that can help calm as well.

Be prepared for those excitable moments, & with a little training, turn the frenzy into a frolic with your well-behaved canine companion! 🌟🐶
