šOK..NOW WHAT? (your Q & A)
Do You Know Your Dogās Pawedness?

Your dog has a ādominant pawā & it has deeper meanings than a high five.
Most dog parents never notice it, but your dog quietly reveals their preferred side every day. Steadying a toy, stepping off a curb, reaching for your hand. Scientists call it lateralization. You can just think of it as your dogās ālefty or rightyā identity.
Pawedness is a tiny window into your dogās emotional world. Research from the University of Lincoln shows that rightāpawed dogs often lean a little more confident & optimistic. Leftāpawed dogs can be more cautious, sensitive to noise, or quicker to notice changes in their environment. Itās a gentle clue about how your dog moves through life.
Finding out your dogās preference is simple & surprisingly bonding. Offer a treatāstuffed toy & watch which paw they use first to steady it. Or place a small piece of tape on their nose & see which paw they lift to swipe it away. Repeat it a dozen times over a few days & a pattern will emerge. Your dog is quietly telling you more about who they are.
Once you know their ādominant side,ā you can use it to make life easier & more joyful. Teaching āshakeā? Start with their preferred paw. Building confidence? Let them lead with the side that feels natural. Pawedness is another way to understand your dogās inner wiring & strengthen the connection you already share.

Are You Keeping Your Dog Up Too Late?

Do you ever look at the time, see itās past midnight & look to find your pup sitting by your feet, casting a heavy, sleepy-eyed glance up at you while you binge just one last episode? It turns out our modern late night routines are directly shaping how our dogs rest.
A study from North Carolina State University tracked the daily rhythms of family dogs & found something beautiful. Our dogs almost completely match their sleep & energy cycles to ours. Their biggest bursts of activity happen exactly when we are around to hang out, leading to a long evening peak that stretches right up until around 11 p.m if weāre still up.
Because our dogs are so deeply devoted to being near us, they will happily sacrifice their own bedtime just to stay in our orbit. If you stay up late, your pup is likely pushing past their natural tiredness to keep you company.
Recent research into canine health highlights that dogs thrive best when they have a consistent, regular bedtime. Keeping a steady evening routine stabilizes their internal biological clock, which lowers their stress hormones & helps them get the deep, restorative sleep they need.
You can easily support your pooch by giving them a little permission to turn in at the same time every night. Try setting up a cozy, darkened rest space away from the TV or phone screens, giving them a quiet sanctuary to slip into when they need a break.
When we look out for their rest, we get a happier, more resilient dog by our side the next day. After all, a well-rested pup means more energy for those wonderful outdoor adventures together. š
šDogās Prefer Different Colors, How Does That Work?

Like me you have probably stood in the pet store aisle debating between the bright red ball, the vibrant blue one, or some other color, trying to guess which one your pup will love most. We usually pick toys based on what catches our eye, but our dogs look at a completely different rainbow.
There is a classic myth that dogs see only in black & white that still does the rounds. You may be well past that and tuned into the research into canine vision that shows that dogs do see color but not all color, they have a different set of light receptors in their eyes.
Our eyes pick up red, green, & blue, while a dog's eyes tune only to blue & yellow mostly. That fiery red toy lying on the green lawn simply blends in as a dull shade of dark gray. Thatās why your pup might run right past a red ball at the park, switching to nose-mode sniffing frantically while you point directly at it. They genuinely cannot see it against the grass.
Because of how their eyes process these shades, dogs naturally pay much closer attention to things that match their visual strengths. When given a choice, they show a clear preference for bright blue or vivid yellow items because those specific colors stand out sharply against the rest of their world.
Knowing this visual quirk helps us make much better choices for our furry toy finders. Next time youāre updating their toy heist, picking bright blue or yellow makes fetch and play time way more engaging & frustration free. Another nice way of looking at the world through their eyes that can make their day a bit brighter.

š¤PAWSE TO REMEMBER
Watch Containers & Other Plastics. Always keep an eye on plastic containers, food packaging, & everyday plastics around the house. If your pup chews up & swallows sharp pieces of plastic, those shards can cut their mouth, scrape or tear their tummy on the way down, or cause a dangerous blockage that needs emergency surgery. It is also worth choosing toys made from BPA-free plastics. As dogs chew constantly, they can swallow tiny, invisible microplastics & chemicals that can be bad for their health.

š§FACT or FLUFF??...Answer. FACT
While dogs do not possess a complex, human-like system of moral ethics, they do exhibit a basic moral code, a sense of fairness, empathy, & social rules. Studies show they notice when another dog gets a better reward for the same task & will actively adjust their behavior to maintain cooperation & group harmony.
